Porridge in the morning light and a lamp in the dead of night

The most touching aspect of a marital relationship lies in the ordinary days that pass day after day. At half past six in the morning, a faint sound came from the kitchen. The husband was standing in front of the stove, stirring the clay pot. The aroma of rice mixed with the sweetness of red dates slowly spread out. The wife rubbed her eyes and walked in, gently wrapping her arms around his waist from behind: “Why did you get up so early today?” ” You said yesterday that you wanted to eat the mixed grain porridge from your hometown. In a simple conversation, there lies a concern that needs no words.

In the evening, when my husband comes home late from work, he always opens the door and sees a warm yellow light on in the living room. The wife was lying on the sofa flipping through a magazine. Hearing the noise, she immediately got up and said, “The rice is in the insulated box. I’ll heat up a bowl of soup for you.” When the heat shield on the dining table was lifted, the familiar smell of steam rushed towards me, dispelling all my fatigue. Those unspoken cares have all turned into porridge in the morning light and lamps in the late night, simmering the most enduring tenderness in the passage of time.

Between husband and wife, there’s no need for grand vows. It’s just that you remember my preferences and I care about your well-being, turning ordinary days into a long-lasting romance.
